Day14 Took the short cut to Alice via the Ernest Giles road 100 is of which around 40 was severely corrugated twice as bad as the worst of the Oodnadatta track,did not save any time but was more interesting than backtracking,also,saw Henbury meteorite crater site ,measures 157 metres a cross and was the result of a meteor the size of a 44 gallon/200 litre drum .
On to Alice where we were booked into Lassiters motel. Went to the casino which is part of the complex,this was the most unpleasant experience of our trip, the casino floor stank of sweat and urine.
Alice town centre itself is a fairly depressing place with a police officer outside every alcohol outlet for the entire opening hours.
Day 15 despite what was written above we decided to base at the G’day mate caravan park on the outskirts of Alice,.Set up camp and when trying to put the fridge on power find the plug is broken, as it is Saturday race around Alice to find replacement without success,tried splicing new plug with lead but only enough power to light temp gauge. So day wasted have decided to book for 4 nights.
