Day 16 Off to Hermannsburg an aboriginal community set up as a Lutheran mission set up in the late 19th century. The community now surrounds the original mission which has been preserved as an historic precinct. World renowned artist Albert Namatjita attended he school of aboriginal art. (google Namatjira – worthwhile artistically,culturally and historically).
From Hermannsburg we backtracked to Ellery Creek big hole which has unpowered camping sites with toilets and showers it is central location in the West Mc donnalds making it an ideal base with for families with the swimming hole.
Turning back to Alice we checked out Simpsons Gap an enjoyable spot cool and serene, Then visited John Flynns grave, Flynn a Presbyterian minister whose vision led to the establishment of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
