Day Eleven
Leaving Winton we are now travelling to places we have not been to Cloncurry 350 Ks west the first 250 Ks are featureless grazing land to McKinlay the home of Walkabout Creek Hotel. Called in for a beer and lunch at hotel that featured in the Crocodile Dundee films
Continuing on the last 100 Ks the country changes to red dirt scrub dotted with termite mounds, the country remains green but the rivers and creeks no longer run, however the cattle we saw looked well fed.
Arrived Cloncurry around 1415 booked into Oasis caravan park good sized grassed shady sites
Historically Cloncurry has strong ties to foundation of QANTAS the RFDS, the first ever RFDS flight took place from here using a de Havilland DH50 hired from QANTAS
Walhabout Creek Hotel
