Day Fourteen
Tried our luck out by the boat ramp, after 2 1/2 hours we left with one 30cm catfish. Quick stop at camp then off to Leichhardt falls 70ks away.
Leichhardt
Frederick Ludwig Leichhardt Ludwig mounted a private expedition from Moreton bay to Port Essington north of Darwin after almost 4,800 Ks and being long given up for dead he arrived in Port Essington 14 months later. In 1848 he disappeared on an expedition to cross from east Qld to the Swan River Perth aged 35
As we are well into the dry season no water flowing over falls but still an impressive sight especially when you take in the extent of the river bed.Went down to the bottom for photos and after around 20 minutes a lady at the top told us there was a crock down there only around six foot long, made our way back up and saw him sunning on a rock, not sure if it was a crock or gator.
After hardly seeing an eagle all the way up where crows seemed to have scavenging rights on the abundant road, kill eagles rule the skies here. The countryside is much drier up here but the cattle appear in good condition , and there are ? Walleroos everywhere. Well that is it for today tomorrow is barrasundy
