Day Fifteen
Artesian bore
Catfish
Albert river bridge Normanton Rd
Lyns jewfish
Artesian bore
Albert river Wharf
Tried our luck at the wharf this morning, no luck but enjoyable morning watching hundreds of jellyfish swim by.
After lunch tried our luck east of town still on the Albert river where we met Neville and Janice within 10 minutes Lyn hooked what Neville told us was a jewfish measured 45cm apparently very good eating so we gave it to them. Waited another 2 1/2 hours before I hooked a catfish just before heading back to camp.
Called into the artesian bore wetlands Spoonbills at lunchtime Roos in the evening. The mound around the bore is actually deposits of minerals after the water has evaporated, so it is building its own fountain.
The weather over the past 3 days has been high twenties after being around 19 and sunny with cold nights on the way up.
We have enjoyed our 3 days here with our friendly neighbours Lance and Lois. The park is quiet and honey eaters have visited the bush on our site each evening. Tomorrow we head back to Gregory, the general store also does a camp meal tomorrow night is camp oven roast lamb it said book early so we we hope we can get in. No internet next 2 days so next post will be from Karumba
