Day Twenty three
Up early to drive the 90ks much of which is unsealed to go on Cobbold Gorge tour.
A thoroughly worthwhile experience, an hour and a half stroll around the gorge, with informative stops relating to bush tucker/medicine and gorge history.
Though the area has been a station for almost 150 years the gorge itself was only discovered in the 1990s.
The cruise through the gorge is in electric powered punt only the width of a car but still scrapes the side of the 30 metre cliffs as it passes through its narrowest part. An tranquil cruise apart from the odd fresh water crock that held its passengers spellbound for much of its hour duration.
The gorge has a mini resort caravan park with a small bar, meals and reception Souvineers all reasonably priced unlike other “resorts”. I hope that it remains this size so the nearby towns can continue to benefit from this wonderful attraction .
